I’m Cathy Dutton a human centered designer from Cheshire, I design and build inclusive services focusing on usability, accessibility and information architecture.

I’m currently working as a Lead Designer for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra UK). I work with user researchers, business analysts and content designers to design services that are engaging, intuitive and easy to navigate.

Alongside project work I am also an active member of the design community, trained service assessor and member of the GDS design system working group, helping to maintain standards whilst promoting inclusivity.

Digital transformation provides organisations with the perfect opportunity to redesign legacy paper forms making it quicker and simpler for users to achieve their goal. However, as well as opportunity, creating a digital experience can also introduce new problems, after all paper forms do have some advantages over their digital replacements.
